It might be confusing to figure out why people are marching on Wall Street with all of the various mixed demands and complaints, but at the heart of it is this: People are tired of watching the rich get richer while the middle class shrinks and politicians enact laws that cater to the rich and well connected. This is the heart of the issue, and it’s about time something was done to put a stop to it.
One of the first things that can be done is to stop campaign contributions and the system of elections which relies on raising a ton of money from private individuals and corporations to fund an election campaign. We need publicly funded elections right now. You can never get this country headed on the right track until you take away the huge incentive that politicians currently have to favor the corporations and special interests that allow them to keep their jobs by funding their election campaigns. That’s the first step. Then there need to be a LOT of people arrested and charged with crimes on Wall Street. The level of corruption there is staggering, and yet almost nothing has been done even when they brought the country to the verge of economic collapse. Where is the FBI and the DOJ?
